Preventive and hygiene
Gum care that goes where it is needed.
When gum disease has created pockets around the roots of your teeth, a deep cleaning treats them directly.

About this service
Scaling and root planing, usually called a deep cleaning, removes plaque and tartar from below the gumline and smooths the root surfaces so the gums can reattach. It is the standard first treatment for periodontal disease.
It is a planned, careful procedure, and we explain it fully before it begins.
We numb the area first, and the treatment is often done in more than one visit so each part of the mouth gets proper attention. Afterwards we monitor your gums and, where a case needs a specialist, we work with periodontists we trust.
Who it may be appropriate for
- People whose gums bleed, feel tender, or have pulled away from the teeth
- Patients whose exam shows deeper gum pockets or bone changes on x-ray
- Anyone who has been told they have gingivitis or periodontitis
A guide, not a diagnosis. Only an exam can confirm what is right for you.
